Dry coolers to Project Olkiluoto 3
November 15, 2005
For the nuclear power plant of the new generation, known as the project Olkiluoto 3, our sales office in Gent won the contract for the supply of dry coolers for the auxiliary diesel generator sets.
The order consists of 12 special dry coolers with each 2 circuits respectively 4 fans.
In December 2003, a consortium comprising AREVA and Siemens AG won a turnkey contract to build a new nuclear power plant at the Olkiluoto site, where two nuclear units are already in operation. The evolutionary EPR (European Pressurized Water Reactor) will be implemented in this new nuclear unit called Olkiluoto 3. Framatome ANP, an AREVA and Siemens company, is supplying the nuclear island (comprising the reactor and associated systems), while Siemens is responsible for the conventional island (turbine and generator). Olkiluoto 3 is scheduled to go on line in 2009.
