At Luvata, each casting of oxygen-free copper or phosphorous copper anodes begins with a master alloy of high purity copper, melted under highly controlled and optimum conditions. This offers the lowest variation in structural and chemical properties and therefore high consistency throughout each anode.
As a result of Luvata's casting process, the copper crystal structure of Luvata cast anodes is comprised of large grains, see Figure 1. Large grain size ensures better anode film adhesion and less absorption of organic plating additives, delivering uniform plating, electrical conductivity and ductility performance. Luvata's manufacturing process guarantees anodes behave in exactly the same way – from plating bath to bath.

Without such stringent manufacturing controls, impurities such as tin, lead or silver can form sludge that floats in the plating bath causing inclusions and a rough coating finish. Depending on the impurity or impurity level, these factors can reduce electrical conductivity or cause stresses or changes in the mechanical or physical properties of the coating.
