Award recognizes Luvata for its unique patinated copper products used in a variety of renovation projects throughout Europe
Luvata, in cooperation with its partner Grande, was honored to receive the coveted Renovator Award at this year’s European Exchange Information Renovation (EGIR) show held March 22-23, 2010 at the Wielkopolskich Palace in Cracow, Poland.
This award recognizes Luvata for its unique patinated copper products used in a variety of renovation projects throughout Europe. The award was presented on behalf of the long list of conservators and architects at the special gala dinner held at the Rubinstein Hotel in Cracow.
EGIR is a forum in which visitors from Poland, Eastern and Western Europe can exchange their views and get acquainted with the problems of renovation work characteristic of the region or state, as well as learn about the latest technologies and materials that are applicable in this market segment. It is well attended by representatives of industries associated with renovation, construction, architecture and urbanism.
“We have seen an increase in demand from the architectural and construction community who recognized copper as a durable, low maintenance and recyclable material with lower life cycle costs, especially by those looking to bring new lustre to any significant renovation project,” states Ari Lammikko, Sales Director for Building and Construction with Luvata Rolled Products.
The Filtry project in Poland is one of the biggest copper projects undertaken in Poland in recent years. Filtry is the oldest and largest water filtering station in Warsaw, supplying water to Warsaw residents since the late 1800’s and today it continues to meet 50% of the capital’s water supply needs.
The roof renovation of this well-known landmark includes over 9000 m2 of Luvata Nordic Brown Light, installed using an innovative technique that combines the standing seam and German batten type technology. “This new technique,” states Adrian Zlotucha, CEO with Grande Group, “showcases the ease of installation and adaptability of the Nordic product line. The results are not only durable, but also visually compatible with the landmark’s architecture.”
Luvata copper is available in a wide range of colours, developed to match the patination of natural copper without the wait. Luvata’s Nordic line of prepatinated copper surfaces offers a variety of blue, green and brown shades to accommodate the variety of environmental conditions and architecture.
