Superior Conductivity Copper, with its high conductivity, is an ideal material for staves. At Luvata, we have created a unique manufacturing process using a continuous casting process to produce cooling channels in casted copper slabs. This innovative process results in thinner stave designs, reducing weight and material costs while providing greater surface area for enhanced efficiency and increased furnace volume. Manufacturing Locations Europe Pori, Finland Innovative Manufacturing Technologies Luvata has mastered two processes for manufacturing copper staves. The traditional method involves creating round cooling channels, while the more innovative method features oval-shaped cooling channels. These oval channels result in thinner staves, reducing the amount of copper used and making production more cost-effective. Moreover, the increased surface area of the oval channels enhances efficiency, providing greater furnace volume. Luvata’s manufacturing process is fully integrated, from the delivery of pure cathodes to the production of the final product. We are confident that our quality is second-to-none, ensuring that our copper staves meet the highest standards for blast furnace applications. Customized Solutions We also offer plate coolers, an important part of our product offering related to blast furnaces. Luvata is one of the few producers who make drilled staves from rolled copper.
