Copper Infiltrant Wire

A groundbreaking solution replacing the traditional powder metal (PM).

Luvata has developed a cutting-edge copper infiltrant wire, a groundbreaking solution that replaces the traditional powder metal (PM). Our innovative infiltrant wire minimizes the mess, reduces waste, and leads to significant cost savings by eliminating unnecessary material and machinery expenses. As the exclusive global supplier of this unique copper infiltrant wire, Luvata is at the forefront of industry transformation.

Applications

  • Automotive parts

Reducing Costs, Mess & Waste

Using traditional powder metal is extremely messy. Luvata’s wire infiltration technique offers a cleaner and more effective solution: it melts high-specification copper alloys into easy-to-handle sintered wire forms, minimizing the mess and eliminating the need to store and handle bulky powder drums. It streamlines the entire manufacturing process by reducing waste and cutting costs from the elimination of tooling, compacting presses, labor and the overheads typically required to produce infiltrant slugs.

By minimizing the need for cleaning machines and premises, and eliminating inventory and manufacturing losses from oxidation, contamination, and segregation, our infiltrant wire ensures a cleaner and more efficient production environment.

Copper Infiltrant Wire Benefits Over Powder Metal

Outperforming traditional powder metal in several ways

  • Effortless handling with no breakage worries
  • Minimized waste and infiltrant scrap
  • Boosted productivity through faster assembly processes
  • Enhanced strength and superior quality
  • Consistent size, strength, and hardness
  • Even copper distribution

Manufacturing Locations

Technical Data

  • Compatible with both one-step and two-step infiltration methods
  • Can be placed on the top or bottom of the iron skeleton, ideal for processing thick parts
  • Sintering temperatures from 2020 to 2060 degrees Fahrenheit
  • Sintering times between 10-20 minutes
  • Sintering atmospheres from 5-100% hydrogen

Infiltrant wire is available in various standard sizes, shapes and diameters, and can be customized to meet customers’ exact specifications. For localized infiltration, shorter times and lower temperatures are recommended.
