A Green Meadow in the Plant Area Supports Biodiversity at Luvata Pori

At the Luvata Pori site, a small but meaningful change is making a big difference. For the first time, the company has left a meadow in the plant area unmowed. It’s allowed to grow and flower naturally throughout the summer. With this initiative Luvata Pori is creating a greener environment and providing valuable shelter for insects and small animals within the plant area and ultimately supporting biodiversity.

In addition to letting the meadow flower, Luvata Pori’s summer employees built insect hotels in the meadow. Insect hotels are structures that humans make to provide safe shelter and nesting sites for beneficial insects.

The summer employees sourced the materials for the insect hotels almost entirely from nature and recycled items found around the site. This makes the project both environmentally friendly and resource-efficient.

Continuous Biodiversity Actions

Luvata Pori includes biodiversity promotion in its sustainability strategy and continuously explores new initiatives. Additionally, the company actively participates in local environmental projects. As an example, the company is currently involved in a project that examines the impacts of climate change on natural waters in the Pori region and how these changes may affect local industry and energy production.

“Assessing the impacts of climate change on Luvata Pori’s operations is a key part of our business continuity planning, and just one example of the nature-related initiatives we are involved in,” says Saara Koski, EQP Director at Luvata Pori.
